Changzhou Airport is now actively applying for the national category-1 airport. On February 16, the investigation group of Jiangsu Ports Office inspected the opening issues of Changzhou ports. Vice mayor Han Jiuyun accompanied.
　　Since opened in 1986, Changzhou Airport has been operating for 26 years. Last year, Changzhou Airport introduced 4 airline companies and newly added 8 arriving cities. Now Changzhou Airport has 17 flight lines in total and carried 934,000 passengers in 2011.
　　Since 2009, Changzhou has invested RMB 3 billion to reconstruct the airport. The non-stop flying project in the airfield is expected to be completed in 2012. The apron area after the reconstruction reached 160,000 square meters, which could meet the demand of annul passenger throughput of 4.9 million people and become one of the best airports in Jiangsu province. The investigation group spoke highly of the preliminary work of Changzhou’s airport opening.
　　At present, the construction of the terminal, joint inspection office and airport inspection agency have been progressing in an all-around way.
