The 9th day of the 9th lunar month is the traditional Chongyang Festival, or Double Ninth Festival, which falls on Oct 28 this year.

On the morning of Oct 28, the 7th Changzhou Chrysanthemum Festivalkicked off in Qingfeng Park.

Also known as "yellow flower", chrysanthemum is of varied species in the composite family. Though its florescence lasts long, this perennial herb usually begins to bloom in the 9th lunar month, lending a festive flavor to the Double Ninth Day.

This year's Chrysanthemum Festival featured a total of 500 chrysanthemum varieties and exhibited 10,000 chrysanthemums in five spots, showing the unique cultural connotation of chrysanthemum.

It is learned that this year's Chrysanthemum Festival will last till Nov 5.
