The second-phase project of Government Wi-Fi Programme (GovWiFi) was recently completed, which has received good social repercussions after the trial run.

The second-phase project provides free wireless Internet access services to eight areas, including Changzhou No.1 People’s Hospital, Changzhou No.2 People’s Hospital, Nandajie Public Plaza, Wanda Plaza, Hongmei Park, Qingfeng Park, Renmin Park, etc. Changzhou Municipal Committee of Economy and Information Technology invited experts from relevant authorities and institutions to carry out testing and assessment on some important indicators like WiFi Internet logon systems, equipment installation, etc.

After the site visit, these experts agreed that the main indicators of this project have met the designated requirements and the program is qualified to be opened. They further confirmed that the GovWiFi will definitely enhance the city's image and bring about benefits on citizens. They also suggested introduction of appropriate business model for sustainable development.

As of May 31, the GovWiFi has been opened in 15 areas, while approximately 800,000 visitors have successfully logged in, with a total network traffic of 34.48T.
