Niehoff Machinery Changzhou Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Germany’s Maschinenfabrik Niehoff GmbH & Co. KG, has signed an agreement with the Changzhou West Taihu Lake Science and Technology Industrial Zone (WEZ) to establish a high-end cable equipment manufacturing base. The USD 30 million investment marks Niehoff’s third expansion in WEZ since entering the Chinese market.

Founded in 1951, Maschinenfabrik Niehoff is a global leader in wire drawing and cabling systems, with cutting-edge technology serving industries such as automotive, new energy, electronics, aerospace, AI computing, robotics, and power cables.

As Niehoff’s exclusive production hub in China, Niehoff Machinery Changzhou first began operations in WEZ in 2011, initially leasing space in the West Taihu Smart Park for cable machinery production. In April 2018, the company launched its second-phase facility covering 28 mu (1.87 hectares), which went into operation by late 2020 and now manufactures two of Niehoff’s best-selling global product lines. In 2024, the Changzhou subsidiary recorded RMB 320 million in annual sales.

With rising global demand for high-frequency data transmission cables—fueled by rapid AI industry growth—Niehoff Changzhou plans a third-phase expansion, investing USD 30 million into a 30-mu (2-hectare) facility. Scheduled for completion in March 2027, the new plant will introduce additional production lines and equipment to boost capacity and meet global supply chain demands.

At the signing ceremony, Vice Mayor Pan Dongling thanked Niehoff for its ongoing contributions to Changzhou’s economy. He reiterated the city’s commitment to strengthening its role as a national advanced manufacturing base and regional sci-tech innovation hub, in line with Jiangsu province’s “10+28” industrial strategy. Pan pledged continued efforts to optimize the business environment and accelerate new quality productive forces.

Elena Graf, CFO at Niehoff Holding GmbH, commended WEZ's 14-year collaborative partnership. She noted that Changzhou provides excellent conditions for innovation with its robust industrial ecosystem tailored to operational requirements, while recognizing WEZ's comprehensive support as instrumental to company success. Graf outlined strategic plans to strengthen competitiveness through deepened localization initiatives and technological advancements, targeting accelerated Phase III implementation to solidify Niehoff's market leadership position.
