Recently, the Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission released a data set at the press conference that in 2014 Changzhou has issued permission to 2,160 families to have second children, of which 547 children were born during the year.

According to Ma Jianfeng, Chief of the Policies & Regulations Division of the Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, since the new two-child policy (prescribing that in families where one parent was a single child, the family would be allowed to apply to have a second child) was officially implemented on March 28, 2014, a total of 2,160 families have successfully applied for the permission to have second children, accounting for only 5% of qualified couples in the city. However, surveys show that there may be a baby boom within the next few years.
