On October 16th, Changzhou Municipal Price Bureau and Changzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics jointly released the CPI and its operation in September as well as in the first three quarters. In September, the general consumer price level was up by 0.5% over last year.
In September, the prices of 8 major categories of consumption and service items saw seven rises and one fall. The prices of clothing, liquor & tobacco, household facilities articles and maintenance service, food, entertainment & education & culture goods and service, housing, and health care & personal items all rose. The price of transportation and communication fell by 6.1%.
From January to September, Changzhou’s general consumer price level was up by 1.6% over last year, 0.2 point higher than the country’s average level and basically flat to provincial level. The prices of 8 major categories of commodity and service items also saw seven rises and one fall. Food category led the growth, up 4.2%. Clothing category took the second place, up 3.8%.
