The NNU-Changzhou Institute of Synthetic Biology Industry has been officially designated as the Jiangsu Provincial Synthetic Biotechnology Innovation Center - the only institution in Changzhou to receive this provincial recognition in 2025. Backed by a substantial 900 million yuan investment, the newly established center will pioneer breakthroughs in life sciences and advanced biomanufacturing through its integrated research infrastructure. The center features two foundational technology platforms: an AI-driven molecular design system and a high-throughput analytical testing facility. These are supported by specialized research divisions concentrating on bioinformatics and computational biology, engineered cellular systems, industrial enzyme innovation, and bioprocessing technologies, along with robust technology translation services.

Since its establishment in June 2023 through strategic collaboration between Nanjing Normal University and Changzhou's Xinbei District, the Institute has evolved into a comprehensive innovation engine. It uniquely combines world-class academic research with industrial-scale biotechnology development, fostering talent cultivation while accelerating the commercialization of synthetic biology applications.
