Amid profound changes in the global trade landscape, Changzhou's foreign trade has demonstrated strong resilience and vitality. According to information released by Changzhou Customs on January 16, in 2025 Changzhou's total foreign trade value reached RMB 372.81 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.9%, the fastest growth rate in the province.
The share of general trade continued to rise, further strengthening trade autonomy. In 2025, the city's imports and exports conducted under the general trade model totaled RMB 319.26 billion, up 16.1% year on year, accounting for 85.6% of the total—an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared with the previous year. Imports and exports under the bonded logistics model amounted to RMB 10.57 billion, growing by 17.3% and accounting for 2.8% of the total.
Exports of electric vehicles and electrical equipment maintained strong growth momentum. In 2025, the city's exports of mechanical and electrical products reached RMB 198.55 billion, up 24.6% year on year and accounting for 65.2% of total exports. Among these, exports of electric vehicles, EV batteries, and solar panels totaled RMB 52.35 billion, surging by 135.5%. EV exports alone amounted to RMB 38.24 billion, contributing 9.5 percentage points to the city’s overall foreign trade growth.
Private enterprises recorded positive import and export growth for 15 consecutive months, underscoring their role as the main driving force of foreign trade. In 2025, private enterprises achieved a total import and export value of RMB 237.62 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 25.6% and accounting for 63.7% of the city's total foreign trade.
At present, Changzhou has added more than 700 private enterprises with import and export activity compared with the same period last year, further expanding the ranks of the main drivers of foreign trade growth. The strong resilience and vitality demonstrated by Changzhou's private enterprises stem not only from their intrinsic dynamism—leveraging their respective strengths and responding flexibly to change—but also from the proactive, targeted support provided by government departments such as Changzhou Customs.
Through the continued implementation of the "Three Dedicated Initiatives to Support the Foreign Trade Development of the Private Economy," the needs and concerns of private enterprises are responded to swiftly and addressed on a rolling, case-by-case basis, ensuring timely resolution and effective support.
